Biography
Shawn Schaffert received the Bachelor of Science degree from the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1998, and the Master of Science degree and the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of California-Berkeley in 2001 and 2006, respectively.
During his time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Shawn worked in the Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory as an undergraduate researcher supervised by Professor Robert D. Palmer. In this lab, he worked in the areas of radiosonde hardware and Doppler radar imaging. He also worked as a power engineering intern at the Omaha Public Power District.
During his time at the University of California-Berkeley, and under the supervision of his advisor, Professor Shankar S. Sastry, Shawn worked on various projects related to control systems, robotics, pursuit-evasion games, embedded & real-time software, and wireless sensor networks. Additionally, shawn collaborated on a project investigating phase transitions for combinatorial optimization solvers during his time as an intern at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).
